If you’re not in love with avocados there are plenty of other whole food fat options. Flaxseed, whole raw nuts, olives, and raw seeds are just a few. The key is to remember to use them RAW, no salt! No salt does not mean tasteless. All these options, except olives, should be stored either in the refrigerator or freezer. Nuts and seeds can spoil so buy on an as needed basis and use them up. (Remember, you should only eat approximately 1 palm-sized portion of nuts a day. use them up. If you can, buy whole flaxseeds and grind as needed for freshness and nutritional value. Hey but if you don’t have the time, like me, or just don’t “f-in” want to grind them, buy them ground. Costco has a great value on ground milled flaxseeds.

Cutting avocados is not scary or difficult. It is much easier than it looks. Carefully cut in half longwise, remove the pit, slice in a couple of directions, and spoon it out. Done! Don’t forget to save the pit, add it to your guacamole and it will help to keep the guacamole from discoloring.
