The owner behind popular NYC vegan eatery by CHLOE sues restaurant group for attempting to open meat-serving restaurants in her name.

New York City-based chef and restaurateur Chloe Coscarelli has filed a lawsuit in a Manhattan civil court against Jimmy Haber€”her financial partner in restaurant group Esquared Hospitality€”in an effort to protect her name from being used to open and promote meat-serving restaurants. Coscarelli teamed with Habers daughter Samantha Wasser to open the rapidly expanding by CHLOE chain in 2014. However, Wasser attempted to sell the companys assets to Haber€”who allegedly planned for a non-vegan expansion of the brand€”for a $5 million loan that prompted Coscarelli to file suit. According to the New York Post, Haber warned Coscarelli that €œshe would need a bodyguard if she dared to meet with him in person.€ By CHLOE recently expanded to the West Coast with a new location inside a Los Angeles 365 by Whole Foods market, plans for two Boston outposts, and several more restaurants planned for the New York City Area. Attorneys for Wasser and Haber stated that they €œ[have] always€”and will continue to€”act in the best interest of by Chloe.€
